Special Forums for Writers, Readers, Publishers and Agents

In addition to social forums, problem-solving forums, reviews of books and other fun content, Deadly Prose Forum is unique:
Published Novel Excerpts Forum— Post your excerpts of published novels to give readers a chance to fall in love with your work
Unpublished Novel Excerpts Forum — post excerpts with a synopsis for publishers and agents (don't forget your contact information and copyright notice!)
Chapter and Query Critiques Forums — in the "writer's only" section

We ask only that you be respectful, have a great time, follow our simple guidelines and share your love of "fiction to die for."

Deadly Prose Forum is new as of November 07, although you probably know of Deadly Prose Magazine and Deadly Prose Critique Circle, both institutions in the writing and novel community. These forums are owned and operated by Deadly Prose Magazine and the famous Deadly Prose Critique Group, world famous as one of the first "full novel" online critique groups for published or "soon-to-be-published" novelists of "fiction to die for." For more information:

• Deadly Prose Magazine — http://www.deadlyprose.com
• Deadly Prose Critique Group — http://groups.yahoo.com/group/deadlyprose/

Forum Members are eligible for a free BLOG on Deadly Prose Magazine's blog section. To request a blog, private message ADMIN. Your blog will appear on http://www.deadlyprose.com.

Note: Deadly Prose Critique Group is very intense. You must submit your work to the admissions committee and participate in at least one full novel critique per year. For chapter-only critiques, consider joining the "writers only" Deadly Critique section of this forum.

Above all — have a good time!

A Special Welcome to Agents and Publishers.
The original core members, Deadly Prose Critique Group, are published and talented authors. We hope you'll get to know our original Deadly Prose members and the wider community of talented writers. This is also a great place to meet and get to know readers, our best friends. Here, they will share their opinions and favorite reads, chat with authors, agents and publishers. We encourage all agents and publishers to either "lurk and find" your next talented author or participate and help us all grow. THANK YOU!.

Announcement: Got the damn thing published AT LAST!!!
Posted: lin robinson @ Thu Aug 07, 2008 5:38 am
My book “Imaginary Lines” is just out on the new adoro books imprint… OVER TEN YEARS after I wrote that stuff!!!

All of the work in the book was published back in the mid-nineties, articles I co-wrote with Guadalajara/Tijuana writer Ana Maria Corona Espinosa. They all ran in good markets, from the San Diego weekly to Harpers magazine. And then… nothing. I’ve had more almosts and “we love it, but we’re going out of business” and “yeah, sure, but first we want to scr...

Twas the night before publication, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, except my computer mouse.

A few author copies were stacked on the table with care,

In hopes that St. Oprah, would one day be there.

My children were nestled and snug in their beds,

While visions of royalty checks danced in their heads.

And hubby by the TV, and I by my dog,

I’d just settled down to write a new blog.

When out on the porch there arose such a clatter,

I...

Announcement: T Minus 30 Days to Publication
Posted: kharrington @ Tue Mar 04, 2008 9:34 pm
In just under 30 days, my novel JANEOLOGY will be launched into the world. Yikes!

So if you don't mind, I thought I would chronicle the run up to the publication date with what I'm doing, what's helpful, what I'm learning from other, seasoned authors, and most importantly, how to cope on four daily cups of coffee and four hours sleep.

Maybe you’ll get sick of me. Maybe you won’t. Maybe I’ll get sick of me. Probably.

Drank four cups of coffee

Posted: cherylktardif @ Sun Jan 13, 2008 2:55 am
Whale Song is the perfect choice for book clubs and schools!

Not only is Whale Song a “beautiful” and “compelling” novel, it has had an emotional impact on many readers and it explores numerous topics. Reading it, you will learn about living in an isolated town, the lives of killer whales, west coast native traditions and legends, the effects of racism, the impact of bullying and abuse, the choice and consequences of assisted death, the depth of a parent’s love, and surviving grea...

Announcement: Medium premiere - "And Then" the writers went home
Posted: cherylktardif @ Wed Jan 09, 2008 2:36 am
When I sat down to watch the highly anticipated season premiere of Medium, one of my favorite shows, my first reaction to the episode titled "And Then", was: "Good God, what did they do with the writers?" I am not sure if this was the product of the writers' strike or if it was taped earlier, but the episode was flat, predictable and...in one word, BORING. Sorry, NBC.

Spoiler alert!

In the premiere, we are given a recap of what happened last season and left with a depr...

Holiday Book Contest
( Part II )

OK – I hear you.
In response to a number of e mails that pretty much said, “Hey, Ric –what are you using for brain cells, pal. As much as I’d like to enter the contest and win free books or bookplates, there’s no way, I’m gonna be able to find the time to squeeze in a read before Christmas!”

In fact an e mail that I received yesterday, suggested that I extend the contest through the end of the year.
Not a bad idea.
So, OK – consi...

Announcement: Passim Charity Auction a Big Success !
Posted: ric wasley @ Thu Dec 06, 2007 9:14 am
In answer to several e-mails about this event, Yes! It was a great success.

I don’t have the final total yet but, from what I saw on Sunday, many thousands of dollars were raised to benefit the multicultural Culture for Kids program and the Passim School of Music

It was a real kick for an old "Folkie" like me to see all of the cool stuff that Betsy the owner of Passim had rounded up for the auction. One of my favorites of the night was one of her personal B&W photos of Dyla...
